MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
I. CORE CLASS RULES
1. Respect others & yourself - always try to be the best version of yourself and do your best work. Be supportive to others as they try to do the same.
2. Obey school rules, your principal and teachers with a good attitude.
3. Practice the Three Principles of Attentive Behavior:
1) Listening ears
2) Voices off
3) Eyes on the speaker
4. Follow directions with everything your teachers instruct you to do.
5. Listen carefully, and ask questions when you don’t understand.
6. Leaving your desk:
You may not leave your desk when the teacher is explaining a lesson, without permission. When you need to leave the classroom, you must:
1) Ask the teacher.
2) Fill out the sign out sheet.
3) Only one girl & one boy are allowed to be signed out to use the restroom at one time.
II. ASSIGNMENTS
Grades are entered into the gradebook [Renweb] weekly.
If you are absent or tardy and miss an assignment, you must ask your teacher about how and when to make up any missing assignments. The due date will depend on the assignment.
III. GRADING SCALE:
Classwork/Participation: 30%
Homework: 20%
Quizzes: 30%
Tests/Projects: 20%
CLASSWORK/PARTICIPATION: 30%
Classwork/participation makes up a large part of your overall grade. You will receive a weekly classwork/participation grade in the following subjects:
1) Language Arts
2) Science
3) Theology
4) Math
5) History/Geography
Classwork/Participation Guidelines
To earn your full classwork/participation grade, you must:
1. Display good behavior during instruction time by showing the The Principles of Attentive Behavior:
1) Listening ears
2) Voices off
3) Eyes on the speaker
2. Write all class notes neatly according to the instructions given.
3. Show that you’ve been listening by being ready to respond to the lesson when called upon.
4. Complete all work assigned promptly and thoughtfully, and don’t distract others. [Classwork not completed will be taken home for homework].
HOMEWORK 20%
To earn your full homework grade, you must:
1. Follow the directions for your homework assignment with care.
2. Show that you have done your best on your homework assignment.
3. Turn in your homework assignment on time. [A daily 10% deduction will apply to any late assignments.]
QUIZZES: 30%
To earn your full quiz grade, you must:
1. Study your quiz guide according to your teacher’s instruction.
2. Read each quiz question carefully, following all directions asked.
3. Score well on your quiz.
4. Finish your quiz during the allotted time slot.
TESTS/PROJECTS: 20%
To earn your full test grade, you must:
1. Study your quiz guide according to your teacher’s instruction.
2. Read each test question carefully, following all directions asked.
3. Score well on your test.
4. Finish your quiz during the allotted time slot.
To earn your full project grade, you must:
1. Read the project directions carefully, following all directions.
2. Demonstrate that you have done your best with your project.
3. Turn your project in on time. [A daily 10% deduction will apply to any late assignments.]
IV. MORNING PROCEDURE:
1. When you come to class in the morning, it is important to unpack your belongings and follow the directions for the morning work. Any morning work not finished will be given as homework.
2. When the teacher is speaking, it is important to follow the Three Principles of Attentive Behavior.
V. SNACK/RECESS/LUNCH:
1. It is important to have voices completely off when walking to recess/lunch. 2. It is important to walk in a straight orderly line.
[If these two criteria are not met, the whole class will have to go back to the classroom and start again.]
3. It is important to remember everything you need, as having to come back to class during lunch/recess disrupts the system.
4. If any infringements are incurred through disobeying any class rules throughout the day, the party involved will have to sit out part of their recess [depending upon the repetition of the offense].
VI. END OF THE DAY PROCEDURE:
1. At the end of the school day, it is important to pack your belongings and follow the directions given, using the Three Principles of attentive behavior. If there are any questions on the homework, it is important to ask your teacher.
VII. PRAYER
During prayer time, it is important to participate in a reverent manner along with your class :) ____________________________________________________________________________________
